The Thinkific platform is a powerful tool for those out there trying to create an online course or program. The Thinkific team has done pretty much all the major leg work for any entrepreneur out there trying to develop an online multi-step tutorial, class, or program.

For anyone out there that already has a program developed and now want to bring that program online Thinkific is the perfect platform for you.

Thinkific has user friendly themes for various business styles and niches. 

Themes refer to the overall layout of the website you will be creating. By offering multiple themes Thinkific ensures a better fit for your individual program. The themes can be so varied that two sites with different themes can be barely recognizable as the same platform but also smaller changes as well such as menu layouts and tool bar options.

Thinkific allows you to try their platform for free with a 3 course trial 

The trial period of any product is the most important offering any platform or program can give. This not only let you get a realistic idea of what your buying with the larger program but also lets you see if the overall style of program is right for you. The Thinkific trial period lets you really sink your teeth into the process of starting an online training business. While the trial does not give you full access to all the bells and whistles that the full membership affords it does give you a complete picture of what the program will entail.

Thinkific provides some user training and technical support to keep your business growing and thriving

There is some basic tutorial work throughout the platform. The pop-up tabs that appear in the beginning of the set-up phase of your membership should not be ignored. The begging stages of creation within this platform can be a bit troublesome if you do not pay attention to the suggested path. I myself did what i always do and completely ignored it at first and just clicked around trying to figure it out myself.

I Strongly suggest following the initial tutorial tabs as they clear up some pretty substantial information. I personally did not and had to go back and create a second fake account just to go back through the tutorial hours after i first started off on my own.

Final Thoughts

Thinkific is an amazing tool for someone with a pre-existing program that they want to put online for distribution. The platform is easy to use and integrates with most program formats easily. They offer membership plan options for singular and reoccurring sales modalities. This is an amazing product for a very specific purpose. The one thing i wish they did better was their initial training segments where they explain how to use their platform.

This is definitely more useful for someone who already has a program created and just wants to bring it online. For those out there that are starting from scratch I would suggest a platform that has much more educational material and resources. What is Passive Income

There exists three main income sources: Active Income, Portfolio Income, and Passive Income.

• Active Income is any income earned through the classic job methods. This is the most common income everyone earns and the one that destroys your time to generate wealth.
• Portfolio Income is any profit generated from investments. This includes capital gains, Interest, and some dividends and royalties.
• Passive Income is any income earned through a means that required no regular, continuous, or substantial activity.

There are a ton of different strategies that use this model as a means to generate consistent profit. The greatest part is with the expansion of the internet into new niches the number of passive income options increases as well.

Passive Income Strategies

The number of passive income strategies is increasing with the ever-increasing boundaries of the internet. Here are some of the older more well-known strategies:

• Rental Properties – Owning land/property is the oldest form of earning a passive income stream. This method has been being used for decades and is one of the most profitable. This profitability comes with the drawback, one of the largest starting costs.

• Rent out a Room in Your House – Renting out a single room in your home or subletting a room in your apartment is just one level below flat out owning rental properties outright. The largest drawback can also be the greatest benefit being that you get a much closer interaction with you renter.

• REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts) – Another level down and here we have REITs. These are basically crowd funded rental properties. It has the benefit of being professionally run and managed. The drawback is that it earns reduced returns to pay for that professional management.
  

• Dividend Income – Dividends are like the job well done bonus for owing certain stocks and ETFs. Dividends are usually a small percentile return based on the total investment into the market. The drawback is that they are usually small percents and the stocks themselves are susceptible to the swings of the market.
  

• Peer-to-Peer Lending – This is one of the somewhat newer strategies that has really taken off with the expansion of the internet. One of the leading lenders is Lending Club.

This is in no way the total list of passive income strategies. there are many more ans new ones being created all the time. In my opinion I prefer strategies that let me front load all the necessary work. These strategies then need occasional monitoring, updating, and collecting of funds. Its simple, productive to everyone, and can produce a regular profit for content that has already been created.

When I think about my investments into my passive income streams I use a three variable system to evaluate which one is the most time effective and profitable and cost efficient. Simply put when evaluating I consider the starting cost, the time required to create and service, and the profit earned. Well, obviously, there is a high degree in variability with the results of these comparisons over time. When you consider how much any given business venture has, including my own commitment to it, I have come to find that these results change drastically from person to person. • Ease of Mobility – Working on an online platform gives you the freedom to work from pretty much anywhere on earth (given the right service provider).
• Lasting Income Effects – Working online and creating an online business is essentially creating a totally automated system. Simply build the necessary parts and assemble everything correctly and watch it go.
• Lack of General Time Frame – Because you’re working online you can generally create and service your business on your time. This can be a daily occurrence for some or a monthly event for others or even further.
• General Anonymity – While there is a high degree of interaction and responding to peoples needs this can be done through service or pen accounts.

Content is king. Creating content is going to be your number one duty once you have your direction and name decided upon. It really comes down to your going to write, write, and write some more. Then once your done writing you’ll sit down, get comfy, and write even more. Nobody out there really wants to work for money. We work for what money can get us. Money is a means to an end. We all want money to increase some facet of our lives. The biggest issue is that all too often you have to sacrifice huge amounts of time to achieve your goals. What if you didn’t need to commit to continual work but could front load all of your work and then earn a steady continual cash stream based on that initial work with minimal continued effort.

Well that income method is known as creating Passive Income and here’s how to make a passive income. There are 4 basic methods that I use to earn a passive income. These methods are specifically chosen because of the front loading option that exists with the work. Most of these strategies require some work in the beginning stages but once they are created require very little continued service.

Stocks & Dividend Investing

Investing in stocks can be a simple or highly complicated practice depending on what your desired results are. Generally, as with anything, the more time and energy you put into learning and participating in the stock markets the more money you stand to earn/loose.

There are a few different styles of investing out there but the three basic styles get divided by time frames of the trade being executed:

• Day traders are the most active in the markets and usually place trades that last less then one full day
• Swing traders come second as far as activity goes placing trades that last between a few days to a few weeks.
• Investors usually place trades for long periods ranging from months to decades.

For our passive income strategy we want the longest term period so the plan is to invest. Now the difficult question what to invest in???

I suggest looking for a larger company because you’ll want stability and a proven track record. You not looking for the rocket ship here your looking for continued steady growth. Generally the companies that rocket ship up quickly rocket ship right back down. These companies are fine to trade for profit but as far as long term investing for a passive income??? Not the greatest pick simply because it will require more active participation in the market.

You should also be looking for a company that offers a dividend. Dividends are a percentage of your investment that the company periodically gives back to you while it meets it’s expected targets. Depending on how active you want to be you could pick a higher divided company with some increased risk. The catch between profits is always increased risk vs. sustainability.

Owning a Rental Property

This is by far the most well know passive income strategy. This method is so well-known for a couple of reasons. Firstly it is by far the most visible, most people have had to deal with a landlord or rental property at some point in their life. That being said many people out there have never owned a rental property for profit in their lives.

The second reason being a land owner is such a well-known passive income strategy is that it has been around forever. Now I’m not saying it’s the oldest profession or anything but it is definitely up there. Maybe the second or third oldest. Owning land and allowing others to live and/or work on it for profit is an amazing income strategy.

The biggest issue many faces with this strategy is that it normally requires a large initial investment. Depending on the location and scale of your intended rental property the initial investment could range from tens of thousands to tens of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The large properties that everyone always envisions are a bit unrealistic for beginners but a mid-range property with a trusted property manager can create a generous steady income.

A trusted property manager will be the second hurtle to leap in this journey for passive income. I emphasize trusted here because this person will essentially be doing all the leg work for you so you can enjoy the passive side of this income. I actually try to find a competent and trustworthy property manager before I finalize the purchase of a rental property.

I also try to cluster a few properties in the same general area. I do this both because it’s easier to check on the properties if the need arrives and also so that I can use one property manager for multiple properties.

Starting a Business

This method might have the heaviest work load but also provides one of the better and more profitable passive income strategies. Now with that in mind some might even say that this is not a passive income strategy at all but a full-blown job. Well, yes in the beginning as with anything it will require a large amount of effort to get things rolling. STOP.

Here is exactly where most people get caught in the roll of their own business and right here is where I’m telling you to stop ans step back. The moment your business plans and procedures formalize and no longer need your direct input as the owner you need to begin training your replacement. Train your staff well and treat them well and your business can and will flourish without you.

This is extremely hard to do in the beginning as most business owners want to be involved in all the decisions. This is where I draw a distinction I prefer to be involved in all the critical decisions in my businesses and leave the daily and the mundane to trusted and competent employees.

True by hiring good employees you will have to pay them better and your profits will be lower. Also, True and MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY bye hiring good employees your time on investment drops to near nothing and you are free to do as you please.

Building an Online Business

Creating an online business is, in my opinion, the best of the most passive and profitable ventures. Once you have your online business fully created it practically runs itself. There are also limitless avenues you can take with an online business ranging from direct sales to information sharing to simply blogging. The Hardest Part of Starting an Online Business is the amount of freedom that exists with its concept, beginning stages, development, maintenance, and overall creation. Once you have your website/business up and running it begins to require less and less upkeep especially when you have taken your content creation to its desired level of completion. It is truly a wondrous feeling knowing that all you need to run your business and maintain your income stream is brief uses of the phone and internet.

And now for my closing thoughts my suggestions of where you should begin.

Whether you have tons and tons of money or are nearly broke my suggestion is to start with an online business. It is one of the more inexpensive ventures that has the opportunity for a huge return of time invested. I also suggest starting here because the longer you have an online business running the more opportunities to monetize arise. If you are like the me from years ago and still worked 9 – 5 while trying to better your lifestyle, an online business can be done totally on your time night or day.

No matter what you decide to do the biggest hint I can give you is to get started now. Like Right Now. Stop Waiting just begin. If you have no idea where to begin, again I suggest WA but no matter what you choose to do, what venture you explore you need to get started NOW.

Online Marketing Training

The wealthy affiliate training program is one of the most comprehensive online training programs I have encountered. The training program starts off by splitting itself into two main programs: The Online Entrepreneur Certification Program and The Affiliate Boootcamp Program.

The Online Entrepreneur Certification (OEC) training is a 5 phase (50 lesson) series of courses walking you through the process of creating and growing a business within absolutely ANY niche that you want. This program is great for anyone with a preexisting business they are trying to bring online or anyone with a specific online business idea already in mind. The amount of flexibility to customize you online business to any need or niche is truly amazing and these 5 training phases take you step by step through a process that, I can personally verify, works.
The Affiliate Bootcamp training is a 7 Phase (70 lesson) series of courses walking you through the process of creating and establishing a business in a niche related to the promotion of Wealthy Affiliate. This program is a bit more specific to becoming a Wealthy Affiliate affiliate. This is again a super simple step by step program that leads you to a path of nearly guaranteed success. I say nearly guaranteed because as with any educational or training program it takes a large amount of consistency, persistence, and drive to complete and continue with motivating yourself.

Website Hosting Service

The Wealthy Affiliate web hosting service is a pretty all in one. The service includes access to a wordpress based managing system that lets you easily access, add content, and manage up to 50 websites. The hosting service includes over 3000 pre built website designs for a variety of possibly businesses and over 50,000 included add-ons to assist in the regular maintenance of your online businesses. This service also provides access to their website management tools including SiteSpeed, SiteProtect, SiteSSL, and a SiteHealth monitor.

 

SiteSpeed – A fast website is a higher ranked website. A fast website is also one that offers a much better visitor experiencing, leading to more “time on page”, more people reading your content and more conversions. The SiteSpeed feature will lead to the fastest website load times in the industry.

SiteProtect – Website security is becoming more and more important to the overall success of a website. The SiteProtect feature at Wealthy Affiliate adds a three-point protection layer on your websites. Comment Spam, Back Office Hacking (passwords), and Website Load Speeds (Botnet Attacks). These are the three ways hackers look to wreak havoc on your business and we protect you from all of these with the SiteProtect platform.
SiteHealth – There are many ways that you can determine the overall health of a website and WE track those for you within the SiteHealth platform. These include publishing frequency, content quality, visitor engagement/your engagement, plugins, website feedback, Google rankings and overall trust. Anything that can be tracked, can be improved upon and SiteHealth will help you do this with great efficiency.

SIteSSL – Websites with SSL installed on them are starting to rank much better than non-SSL websites in search engines! With SiteSSL at Wealthy Affiliate, you can set up SSL certificates for completely FREE on any domain that you own. It is instant and we have broken the convention because these are typically “paid” services elsewhere (typically $50 per year, per domain), but completely included in the Premium membership for any domain that you host.
These aren’t even the only tools they offer there just the ones that are at the forefront of what you get when you get the web hosting services associated with the Wealthy Affiliate Program.

Customer Care

Customer care is at the forefront of the mission plan for the wealthy affiliate program. The entire service is education and training based and as such there is a high degree of questions and issues that arise. Due to the fluctuating nature of online business there is 24/7 automated monitoring, managed monitoring, and SIteSupport.

The automated monitoring is a sophisticated layer of monitoring set-up on your websites to scan and find 100’s of potentially critical “issues”. The technology will then automatically deal with these issues to maximize your site performance, up time, and overall website security. The managed monitoring then takes this a step further when the need for human critical thinking and problem solving arises.

There is also a SiteSupport section for 24/7 help. Members simply need to describe a problem or issue and a trained profesional will come back with a soultion or idea to help. The support team is very active with a response time that is less than 5 minutes on average.

While there is a specific SiteSupport area, one on the most innovative and comprehensive customer care options is actually just posting your questions to the community for immediate experienced answers.

Quality Community

The community within WA is one of the best tools/resourses that I have come accross within any training platform. There is an open chat that is ongoing at all times within the WA platfrom. This running dialogue can be used for any issue that I have come accross. The community is actually so strong and responsive that it is extreamly rare that anyone would even have to use the SiteSupport option.

The Live Chat is one of the greatest tools that a WA member has at their use. The help, technical assistance, and even creative guidance you can recieve from other members is nothing short of amazing. The ambasador and senior affiliates throughout the Wealthy Affiliate community are always avaialable and super willing to help.

Payment Plans

There are three different Phases of membership: The Starter Membership, The Monthly Premium Membership, and The Yearly Premium Membership.

The starter membership gives you a free trial of some of the tools and services that WealthyAffliate has to offer. It is through this trial period that people can get a feel of what it will be like to create and manage an online business. The free starter membership allows users to create two fully functional free siterubix websites. The starter membership also includes access to Phase 1 of the training program which I suggest everyone takes advantage of while in the free area(it saves you a day or two of membership fees while you go through the first phase).

The premium membership unlocks all of the tools and services within the Wealthy Affiliate community. This includes the increase from hosting 2 websites to 50 websites (25 of which can be free). This unlocks the remaining training phases which let me tell you are the real meat and potatoes of the program. Going premium also permanently unlocks access to the community and all the help and advise you could ever want or need.

Within the premium membership there are two payment methods: Monthly and Yearly. If you decide to pay the $49 monthly membership you are not locked into a long term(1Year) contract and can therefore cancel your membership at any point. The monthly membership rate is just another checkpoint in my mind now. I truly believe that you should only go monthly for the first 1 to 3 months to help you decide if online business is the right fit for your own needs. After this initial trial it is way more financially savy to switch to the yearly plan. The monthly ($49) rate for 12 months is $588 vs the annual rate of $349 can be interpreted as a savings of $239 per year.

My suggestion would be to rock the starter program and complete phase 1 as a free member. If you complete this training quickly enough(7days) you may still be eligible for the reduced first month price which I would then take. During your first month you should really try to experience this platform as much as possible to make sure it’s a right fit. Then as the month nears it’s end and you realize just how powerful this training and community can be you should switch to annual immediately saving you the most money while reaping the maximum benefits.

Overall

If your as skeptical as I am your probably thinking where is the catch or when is this whole scheme going to become clear. Well it is what you see it as an amazing educational resource and a great web hosting service all wrapped up into one.

At this point I can see no reason why everyone should not take advantage of the 2 free websites and beginner training just to see if this is a viable income source for yourself. As I see it you have nothing to lose besides a small amount of time testing out this program. On the other hand, you have so much to gain through the creation of multiple income streams.
